excitement colours part 2: tickle me pink

Part two in my series on Edith Head’s aptly termed Excitement Colours, from her world-renowned book, How to Dress For Success. This post, Shocking Pink, which Edith calls “Schiaperelli’s gift to fashion excitement”.

Tickle Me Pink!

Shocking pink is not for everyone… yet this bold and intense colour is bound to capture everyone’s attention. Best suited to cooler skin tones (blue or pink undertones, pale white, yellowish or dark, brunettes and deep coloured eyes). So, if it’s not your shade… be the exception and accessorise!

excitement colours part 1: purple patch

In How to Dress for Success Edith Head eloquently enlightens us on ways we can… well… dress for success. In chapter seven of this popular book, Edith talks about the colours we can wear to suit our complexion and how we need to understand our colour aura (the colour of our eyes, complexion and hair). She also defines a range of colour groups, including, The Elegant Colours, The Young Colours, The Slimming Colours, The Excitement Colours, The Man-Pleasing Colours (men might be immediately attracted to red but they all wear blue. Single ladies, opt for blue), and The You Colours.

‘The Excitement Colours’ caught my attention because they’re fun and so very on trend right now! Edith says that they “never fail to get a second look.”

So with that in mind, I thought I’d do a series of posts on each of Edith’s excitement colours. Starting with purple in honour of Edith’s book.

Hope you enjoy!

Purple Patch!

Shades of purple, violet and lavender suit most colour auras – in particular fair to medium skin, blondes and brunettes.

Amethysts are said to be an extremely powerful and protective stone with strong healing, cleansing and spiritual powers. (The Crystal Bible, Judy Hall). They’re pretty too!

What’s your May mantra?

20110504-024316.jpg

Wow! It’s May already. It’s come around so fast. We’re nearly half way through the year. Time to update my wall calendar.

For a couple of years now, I’ve created my own using kikki.K’s DIY Calendar

You can use snaps of your own, family and friends, or use it as a mini mood board for the month.

This month I’ve got one of the shots from the sass & bide papa sucre look book. And a quote I picked for the month:

“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort!” – Herm Albright

What’s your mantra for May?
