Down Yonder goes Yonder

Alexa Chung wears the ever comfy Saltwater Sandals

So excited, one of my fave stores on Malvern Road South Yarra, has branched out beyond the confines of regular retail hours and launched a brand spanking new online store!
If you’re anything like me the urge to shop your favourite stores often hits at random times of the day or evening, like when reading Down Yonder’s fabulous blog in the wee hours of the morning. So, an online store can help feed the addiction, fill up the wardrobe with H-O-T buys and rapidly deplete the bank account.
Even better, if you get your orders in before 23 December, you’ll get them in time for Christmas. Woo hoo! for those of us stuck at work or those far away from Malvern Road.
Down Yonder first introduced us to the fabulous label Friend of Mine last year and also stock Saltwater Sandals (made famous by Alexa Chung and so comfy you’ll never want to wear anything else), jewellery from Stolen Girlfriends Club and more.
Check it out now! I’m pining over the Friend of Mine Life on Mars rings.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, Down Yonder are even offering fashion advice for when you’re a little unsure about mixing spots with leopard print – simply email them at downyonder@nausz.com ;)

PS. Slight delay on getting the link transfer through to the new blog… However, it is live! So the choice is yours. Check out my posts here until the official change over… or if you want to start using the new blog now, check it out at http://houseofturtle.net Would love to know your thoughts.

Kelly Smith is a Friend of Mine

Totally loving Kelly Smith‘s photo-based illustrations for Friend of Mine Summer ’10. After all, these illustrations have everything – fashion, fun and a New York state of mind.

Kelly Smith is renowned for her fashion inspired illustrations, works with an impressive client list, has had several exhibitions and been featured in many local and international fashion mags, including Vogue, Russh, Fallen, Yen and Shop Til You Drop.

I would so love to buy one of these illustrations and hang it on my wall. Or, better yet the whole series. I might have to too if Kelly Smith gets mad that I pilfered these images off her blog Birdy & Me (which is also amazing). Ok, I lie… I actually did ask permission first and Kelly said I could.

For those of you not yet familiar with Friend of Mine, the label was recently launched by designer, Teale Talbot. H
er sexy and confident collection, ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow‘ has already taken the fashion world by storm, and even been featured in the October issue of US Nylon mag.

The collection was inspired by ’90s supermodels, surf culture and even a touch of sci-fi. It is highly wearable, super H-O-T and can easily be mixed and matched with your existing wardrobe.

Oh, and some of the Twitterati out there might remember me carrying on about a pair of boots I was trying to get my hands on awhile ago… you know, the ones I DID get. Well, they are the boots in the image with the umbrella cart. And, I’m pretty sure the model is also wearing my Karen Walker sunnies. I am sooooooo cool. Ok, ok, I did purchase them at Down Yonder who stock Friend of Mine. ;)

A Very Fashionable and Fabulous Top 10 Friday

It’s been ages since I did a Top 10 Friday… and yet they’re so much fun! This one promises to be fashionable and fabulous. Enjoy…

1. The spring fashion shows are nearly here. Go to ‘Must See and Do Events’ – Hurry, tickets sell fast

2. Vogue Australia is celebrating its 50 year anniversary. Grab your limited edition boxed copy now, or pick up one (or all) of the four covers featuring Cate Blanchett at your local newsagent

3. Melbourne designer, Teal Talbot of Friend of Mine has released her debut collection, Opposites Attract. This label is going to be huge. It’s super cool and simple, yet has incredible elements of crazy detail or embellishment. Wear as is, or jazz up with other fave pieces. I love, love, love the leather peep toe wedge boots! Now available at Down Yonder

4. If you blink three times, the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will arrive (well not really, but you know what I mean). Time to start seeking out that fabulous dress. Keep an eye on the fashion shows and visit your fave stores to check out their look books*

5. Check out New Zealand jewellery line, Kagi. I’m totally in love with the Infinity Links Gold Bracelet (so much so that I made it my August Hero)

6. Grab a coffee at Porgie and Mr Jones. I truly love this place (and the hot waiters)

7. Listen to Phoenix’s album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This band never disappoints. My fave tracks are Lizstomania and Rome

8. Seriously, if you haven’t seen Pink’s Funhouse tour – try and get tickets. So good!

9. Steal Kate Moss’ style with your very own LNA Sidetail V-Neck tee – now available at Miijo.

10. Read
Fallen – this beautiful magazine celebrates and seeks out all things creative… and Australian.

Happy Friday! Remember, be fashionable and fabulous – be you.
